The Listening Violin
Franz Wohlfahrt’s Op. 45 contains sixty studies. I want to treat each one as music, not merely exercise.
The series is open to children, adult beginners, returning players, teachers, and advanced violinists. Absolute beginners begin with five short readiness lessons before Study No. 1, so nobody is asked to build speed on top of tension.
Each study opens three doors.
Foundation — pulse, hand shape, open-string bow maps, and one beautiful phrase.
Studio — printed fingering and bowing, two-measure cells, phrase joins, one complete take, and one clear next priority.
Artist — simple material used as a close test of sound, timing, balance, freedom, and intention.
Every lesson includes a demonstration, guided practice, score study, a printable practice card, one listening question, and a clear gate for moving on. The first lesson is Study No. 1 — The Hand Remembers: can the left hand keep its frame without gripping while the bow remains even and free?
The first six-page guide is prepared. The larger sixty-study library will be made patiently, one finished lesson at a time.
A Beginning Before Study No. 1 — five quiet preparations for a true beginner.
